It took FOREVER to figure out how to make a very short paragraph into a story about a 10-year-old girl WITHOUT adding anything false or made-up BUUUT I FINALLY did it!!!
This is the last thing I was told to write something like what the Ensign prints in LDS voices:
LDS VOICE
When I moved to Logan from Salt
Lake City for my first full time librarian job, I never planned on staying
there as long as I did. Attending my first Mid Singles ward was not something I
wanted to do but I determined it was better than attending a family ward. For
the past 5 years I went to a Tongan singles ward in South Jordan. It was part
of the Salt Lake Tongan South Stake.
With my first fast Sunday there I
heard several testimonies from people who knew the Lord wanted them there. I
also heard testimonies from people who were moving, “Because the Lord wants me
to move!” I hated anytime I heard this. I didn’t know I was supposed to be in
Logan and I didn’t feel the Lord wanted me to be there. Where was my spiritual direction?
I even went on a date there with
someone who told me Heavenly Father specifically wanted him in Logan to find
his wife. Logan is a beautiful place filled with many beautiful people. I loved
my job and the people I worked with. My job at a small college allowed me to
get a second Master degree, this time in Business Administration, for free.
When I wanted to start a professional librarian organization with librarians in
the Valley I went out of my way to meet, my Director let me work it in to my
schedule. When I wanted to leave work early twice a week to take Real Estate
classes necessary to take the licensing test she let me do that as well.
I was able to remain active in ULA
or the Utah Librarian Association, Utah’s professional librarian organization.
I was allowed to attend conferences and meetings in Salt Lake City. I presented
at the ULA conference twice and began serving as the secretary for Utah Library
Association’s Intellectual Freedom Committee. I was even able to attend classes
to earn a Level 1 Designation in The Consumer Health Information Specialization
Program from the Medical Library Association.
I don’t see any of these
experiences as being exclusive to Cache Valley. While the Cache Valley Library
Association I helped found could only have happened in Logan, nothing else was
area-specific. I never felt I needed divine direction to tell me where Heavenly
Father wants me to be. That is, until I listened to other people in my ward.
Now I returned to Salt Lake City
and I have reconnected with some of my old ward friends who moved here because
they felt it is where Heavenly Father wants them to be. This finally led me to
pray about something that began bothering me over 4 years ago in Logan.
After much pondering and prayer,
especially since I’ve been here for over two months now without finding a job,
I received an answer. No I didn’t have an angel appear to me or anything else
specifically. I just know Heavenly Father doesn’t care where I choose to live. I
remember a conference talk that discussed blooming where you are planted and I
plan to do just that. I have an assurance that Heavenly Father will let me meet
the people I need to meet and have the experiences I need to have wherever I
go. I determine my destiny through my choices. I love that.
Now I just need to analyze a couple of articles and videos.
