My Random Blogging Therapy
Since I get on lds.org EVERY day I knew it would be online. Bishop said he didn't think it was online. I told him that's what I saw. Since it was 8 more minutes before the program actually started AND since I could go back to the chapel if I was wrong, I went home and sure enough it was online so I got my glass of ice/water and my bowl of ice-cream plus captain crunch to eat with it and watched it online upstairs on my bed in my nice AC home!!!
I fell asleep right before the prophet spoke BUT by the time I woke up it was online anyway so I just went to the last spot I remembered and watched it as soon as I got up. Sugar induces sleep ESPECIALLY on Sunday. The stake president wrote a letter implying that this would be some huge sweeping change NO IT WAS NOT!!! Although that's the first time I've ever seen a missionary training meeting for members.
Additional computer time plus using Facebook and other social media to spread the gospel. The prophet and the apostles each have pages now. Missionaries will be using digital stuff a lot more and stationed at meeting houses between appointments. Alright that's new, BUT the members finding and attending discussions with the missionaries is NOT. I wouldn't be surprised if all missionaries started being issued ipads loaded with the discussions and all visual aids.
Missionaries have been trained well on what members should be doing but members really haven't been taught this like they should've been.
Ether 3
9 And the Lord said unto him: Because of thy faith thou hast seen that I shall take upon me flesh and blood; and never has man come before me with such exceeding faith as thou hast; for were it not so ye could not have seen my finger. Sawest thou more than this?
17 And now, as I, Moroni, said I could not make a full account of these things which are written, therefore it sufficeth me to say that Jesus showed himself unto this man in the spirit, even after the manner and in the likeness of the same body even as he showed himself unto the Nephites.
I want to have that amount of faith.
Verse 17 makes it clear that it is the Savior rather than the father that the brother of Jared sees. The old testament and/or before Christ comes to the earth as a mortal man, the Savior answers prayers. This has been explained to me several times but it is still confusing. Now we certainly don't pray to Christ although we end all prayers in his name.
For Peace at Home - Richard G. Scott
Many voices from the world in which we live tell us we should live at a frantic pace. There is always more to do and more to accomplish. Yet deep inside each of us is a need to have a place of refuge where peace and serenity prevail, a place where we can reset, regroup, and reenergize to prepare for future pressures.
The ideal place for that peace is within the walls of our own homes, where we have done all we can to make the Lord Jesus Christ the centerpiece.
I bear testimony that living an obedient life, firmly rooted in the gospel of Jesus Christ, provides the greatest assurance for peace and refuge in our homes. There will still be plenty of challenges or heartaches, but even in the midst of turmoil, we can enjoy inner peace and profound happiness. I testify that the Atonement of Jesus Christ is the source of that abundant peace, in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
