My Random Blogging Therapy
I was 15 minutes late to church. I slept at my mother's house last night AFTER sleeping at George's the Friday following ULA. Zumba was at 8am so I didn't set my alarm BUT I should've since I woke up when Alisa asked if I was ready to go. Instead I slept until around 9am. I went with Alisa and Noe to University Mall and then to the other one I think it's called Provo town center. I love George's kids. We went to a Polynesian scholarship luau at some park in Provo. The Poly plates were NOT GOOD. SAAAD!!! George and Alisa took me to a Vietnamese restaurant the night before. They ordered this huge soup called Fah tai spelled PHO something or other. A separate plate with mint? peppers, sprouts and lime was served. It is then dumped into the soup. It is AMAZING!!! George also ordered me some sort of noodle dish with lots of vegetables, seasoned pork, crushed peanuts and some sort of sauce. It was very fresh and very delicious. I'm glad they introduced me to Vietnamese food. Am I just going to like ALL Asian food?
Although I stayed specifically to help Nata put on her make up Noelani had a plan and it reminded me of when she was a sixth grader. Isa was a baby and I wanted to baby-sit but Noe wanted the responsibility so I never really did. I love my little Noe however and I'm not going to get upset or try to do something she wants to do. She chose Nata's dress which is gorgeous. She did a very good job with Nata's make up. She looked incredible. Her date is very lucky.
I missed seeing my friend in church BUT I expected that.
I didn't expect to miss my nieces and nephews as much as I do right now.
Nata graduates on the 29th so I'm going to take vacation 2-3 days after Memorial Day so I can take my mother there. Her birthday is on the 27th or Memorial day this year. I wonder if she wants me to take her to Iosepa. I was late this morning because she wanted to chat longer with me this morning.
She specifically asked me if I was visiting for mother's day and I need to do that this next weekend. I knew this would require me to travel to Salt Lake City. I just didn't think about it. Carline invited me to go golfing with her Friday since she bought a golfing thing from Chris Angel Egbert at our ward auction!!! I didn't attend that since I was working on my thesis. Of course I would've gone BUT I'm probably going to travel to SLC on Thursday.
I can't wait for this busy month to be over. I'm not leaving the Dairyland in June although I am DEFINITELY leaving it in July.
As I attended ULA I was struck with how blessed I am and by how fortunate I've been. Professionally I am in a fantastic spot. Since I started with cohort 3 at Emporia State University and finished with cohort 4 I actually know twice as many people. While I didn't get paid as much as regular librarians when I worked as a substitute librarian, I got to know all the managers throughout the system. One of those managers was the ULA president, one is the president now. The past president this year is my academic advisor. The president in a year is a librarian from USU who is active in CVLA and has supported it from its inception. I am so grateful I started CVLA and that I was able to make so many valuable connections.
I did not want to move to Logan or work here BUT coming here has already helped me professionally. I'd love to work as a branch manager and then as an associate director my MBA should allow me to earn!!! I just found plans for a new library a BLOCK from where my mother lives. It will be part of the City system and is called the Marmalade branch. That and Traxx should raise property values nicely. I've always told my mother her location is ideal and to NEVER sell ALTHOUGH her manufactured home needs to be leveled and another house built in its place.
