FHE

They did a cute job putting together a game show that let you win a date. They included commercials for home teaching, visiting teaching, missionary work and family history. Everyone did a fantastic job. I saw the sister missionaries there and thought they shouldn't be there BUT immediately after the game they came and asked me if I'd take them to an appointment. We visited the family I saw with them the Sunday I went with them on splits. They are LDS but haven't attended church. Dillon specifically asked for the missionaries. He is in school at USU and hopes to get a chemical engineering degree. His wife Tasha graduated from Stevens-Henager College with an Associate degree in graphic art. Her home is very pretty and you can tell she has that art sensibility with how she decorates her home. All they need are good friendshippers from the ward. Their ward missionaries NEED to be involved. They are sooo ready for that NOW.

Tasha was telling me how she took their 3-year-old Trinity to church but ended up not going inside because she was afraid. Dillon is the father of the home and he gave the prayer before we left. Dillon's brother lives with them although he is still in high school. His name is Zach. I was a little annoyed with the sisters because they haven't brought anyone from their ward over to visit them in their home. Sister Skidmore began to tell me inviting them to church immediately is NOT something they want to do right away or they'll scare them away. I was thinking chicky D I DON'T THINK SOOO!!! This is why I don't like going on splits. I always think I can do it better. I looove missionary work more than ANYTHING in this world and when people slack I get upset OR at least what I perceive as NOT doing EVERYTHING they can do to bring people to the church. This family is so beautiful. If they had ANY idea of the blessings they can enjoy through the gospel they would NEVER miss church.

I am NOT a fulltime missionary however and I don't have the mantle the missionaries do right now. That's what I have to keep telling myself or I'll just get more and more ticked. I feel like they visit this family but I don't feel like they get them to commit to anything. I don't feel like they are helping this family progress. I know I'm being judgmental.  I know I can do this better. I just wish they would commit these people more and focus on finding some people who don't have the gospel in their lives at all now. Teaching a little girl whose father is baptizing her and who is a worthy temple goer makes absolutely NO SENSE to me. This family could be fellowshipped easily by caring ward members including home teachers, visiting teachers, the bishop and ward leaders. This last General Conference emphasized how much we need to step up our missionary efforts.

There is no way I'm going to refuse the missionaries when they need a way to a discussion. I wasn't thrilled at all however when they asked although I am grateful they invited me along. It made me long for and miss my own mission so very much. I am so grateful I was able to serve a mission and that the testimony I have had all my life was only seared on my heart through missionary work. My father in heaven loves me very much and he hears and answers my prayers when I feel overwhelmed even when I look back and realize how silly it was of me to react a certain way.

Mauricio is in our committee Facebook page now. I added him as a friend. I looked over his page. He is originally from Spain. I completely get that. American men dress like slobs. NOT this boy. He is however Colton's age. What is with my being attracted to boys in the cradle???!!! That is one thing I REALLY like about my friend, he looks younger but he is old enough to be in my mid-singles ward!!! Hallelujah!!! I don't know why I'm always attracted to these little boys!!! He is very intelligent however and he plans to take the LSAT in June. He's NOT LDS. He's a librarian with Salt Lake City library. He doesn't have his MLS and he just got his Bachelor degree from Westminster last year although he's been working at the library for maybe 3 years.

If I wasn't LDS I'd probably have a bad history with young boys ALTHOUGH they are all adults.
