I love it every Friday when I realize, "I DON'T WORK ON FRIDAYS!!!" I can take my time and make my house spotless before my mother gets here for the first time. I love my nieces and nephews so much and I am excited to see them too. I just had some saimin for breakfast and I'm eating some oranges now. This is going to be a fun day for me graduating, taking a bunch of pictures and spending time with my family.
I'm missing our mid-singles Cinco De Mayo dance BUT it's for a very good reason. Next week I'll be in Salt Lake first with my mother and then in Provo for Nata's graduation. I'm excited for her. She really wants to live with me and attend Utah State. I would love to have her but when I brought it up to Alisa who said she wants Nata to attend UVU with Noelani. I think that would be great too. I think Nata would help Noe attend class. I don't want her to feel obligated however. I hope whatever happens she works it out in a way that both Nata and Noe will feel good about it. Actually I think it would be good for Noe to live with my mom and go to SLCC.
She could help my mom run errands AND go to school nearby OR she could go to the community college on Redwood and ride with her dad to and from school when he goes to work. I would then make Ila be her friend. That's exactly what she needs, a nice spiritual RM who speaks Samoan and could talk to my sister-in-law.
2 Nephi 33
1 And now I, Nephi, cannot write all the things which were taught among my people; neither am I a in writing, like unto speaking; for when a man b by the power of the Holy Ghost the power of the Holy Ghost carrieth it unto the hearts of the children of men.
2 But behold, there are many that a their b against the c, that it hath no place in them; wherefore, they cast many things away which are written and esteem them as things of naught.
3 But I, Nephi, have written what I have written, and I esteem it as of great a, and especially unto my people. For I b continually for them by day, and mine c water my pillow by night, because of them; and I cry unto my God in faith, and I know that he will hear my cry.
This is one of my go-to chapters in the Book of Mormon when I need to read my scriptures and I don't know what to read. It is the last thing Nephi wrote in the Book of Mormon. He knows he will not have a chance to address us again. This should give this chapter greater importance. That's what it does for me. I like how he first emphasizes the spirit. We can receive the most beautiful doctrine BUT without the spirit its significance is lost. Also the spirit gives us specific direction. We cannot receive that if we are not sensitive to its promptings.
It is so awesome that Nephi prayed for his bretheren, US-who he would never live to see but who he cared about enough to water his pillow by night with his tears AND pray for us ALL day. It is neat to feel the love from an ancient Book of Mormon prophet.
Until We Meet Again - President Thomas S. Monson
My brothers and sisters, I want you to know how grateful I am for the gospel of Jesus Christ, restored in these latter days through the Prophet Joseph Smith. It is the key to our happiness. May we be humble and prayerful, having the faith that our Heavenly Father can guide and bless us in our lives.
I bear my personal witness and testimony to you that God lives, that He hears the prayers of humble hearts. His Son, our Savior and Redeemer, speaks to each of us: “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him.”
2 May we believe these words and take advantage of this promise.
As this conference now concludes, I invoke the blessings of heaven upon each of you. May your homes be filled with peace, harmony, courtesy, and love. May they be filled with the Spirit of the Lord. May you nurture and nourish your testimonies of the gospel, that they will be a protection to you against the buffetings of Satan.
This is the prophets ending talk for the next six months. It's interesting that it coincides with Nephi's last address. His love for us is felt similarly as when Nephi ended his address to us.
