My Random Blogging Therapy
This was VERY low-key by Poly standards. My mother brought me a silk lei, hair stuff and $10 in a card. She doesn't know that I appreciate that VERY much especially because I get paid Monday and have less than $5. My upstairs is spotless and I need more hangers because I've bought more stuff without buying the accompanying hangers. This has been over a period of time so I didn't realize it. I did ALL my laundry except some white sweaters, dressy blouses and sheets. There are 3 small loads left. I have six hangers left and lots of clothes I need to hang up and fold.
After graduation I told George to take us to Mo Bettah Steaks in North Logan. I looove their food AND they are extremely generous. I made chicken Jap Chae or the Korean dish with the glass noodles. It's sort of like Chinese Lo Mein only it's the Korean version so it's heavy on sesame oil, sesame seeds, and veggies. Soy sauce and sugar make up the rest of the recipe. Instead I just made it with Aloha Shoyu which is the same thing only sweeter than the extremely salty soy sauce.
We had a balloon release after graduation IN THE RAIN!!! Families of the graduates came outside in the rain to greet them. Instead my mother was talking to our outreach person and George was talking to my boss Sharla on-stage. Sharla told George she loves telling people how she found me. They had some sort of leadership meeting in Salt Lake when he sat with Sharla at dinner. She told him how she needed an MLS and said, "You had one in your pocket." He had tried to get me to apply for the position several times. I told him ABSOLUTELY NOT because I didn't want to move to Logan. The timing was just right. I had just lost out on a librarian job I REALLY wanted with the County so when George encouraged me to meet with Sharla IN SALT LAKE at the Hilton where they were having their meeting, I agreed.
George has our Director of Student Services Mike Howle's personality BUT he ALSO has the education that Mike doesn't have. I think that is an excellent combination although I do remember when George had a nice-paying position at Flow-serve that sent him around the world. He was told he smiles too much and that it wasn't professional. When he taught at BYU-Hawaii he had to attend every graduation ceremony in academic regalia. People always would see him there and tell him they didn't know he was graduating at EVERY graduation and BYU-Hawaii has a graduation in December and June or following Fall and Spring semester.
