Urban Poly Princess

I have coordination meeting AND a CVLA meeting at USU today. The editor for the church's children's magazine the Friend is going to be there. The school is VERY slow and VERY quiet today. I think people took their memorial day weekend early. I'm trying to get ahold of my mother. She isn't picking up. I want to find out if she has her AC working yet. 

When I visited her for Mother's Day weekend the heat was horrible. She refused to turn the AC on because she hasn't changed her filter in a year and she said it should be changed every 6 months. She said a fire could happen. I told her people don't do EVERYTHING they're supposed to do and that it should be just fine. While it'll be nice to see my mother next week I'm not going to stay there very long if she won't let me turn the AC on.

YEA!!! I FINALLY got ahold of my mother and she changed her filter AND the AC is ON!!! That is sooo great!!! I guess I'll leave right after church. If I really wanted to leave now I could go now BUT I'm going to wait. I've been VERY good about NOT spending money on fast food. I went to Mickey Ds just for a pomegranate smoothie since they are just $1 today. I ate a key lime Greek yogurt, avocado and a couple tuna sandwiches to round out my breakfast.

I can't wait to try that Vietnamese place O Mai on State and around 39th South. Their Bahn Mi is supposed to be to die for. I can't wait to give it a shot next week. I will finish my cleaning tomorrow and my home will be spotless when I leave it and when I return to it.

3 Nephi 5
1 And now behold, there was not a living soul among all the people of the Nephites who did doubt in the least the words of all the holy prophets who had spoken; for they knew that it must needs be that they must be fulfilled.
12 And behold, I am called Mormon, being called after the land of Mormon, the land in which Alma did establish the church among the people, yea, the first church which was established among them after their transgression.

13 Behold, I am a disciple of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I have been called of him to declare his word among his people, that they might have everlasting life.
25 And as he hath covenanted with all the house of Jacob, even so shall the covenant wherewith he hath covenanted with the house of Jacob be fulfilled in his own due time, unto the restoring all the house of Jacob unto the knowledge of the covenant that he hath covenanted with them.

26 And then shall they know their Redeemer, who is Jesus Christ, the Son of God; and then shall they be gathered in from the four quarters of the earth unto their own lands, from whence they have been dispersed; yea, as the Lord liveth so shall it be. Amen.

I never realized Mormon was named after the land Mormon. He is the consummate intrusive narrator. I like how we are given some insight into his personality in this chapter. I also like how NONE of the Nephites doubted AT ALL in the words of the prophets.

The consummate power of the priesthood has been given to protect the home and its inhabitants. The father has the authority and responsibility to teach his children and to bless and to provide for them the ordinances of the gospel and every other priesthood protection necessary. He is to demonstrate love and fidelity and honor to the mother so that their children can see that love.

I have come to know that faith is a real power, not just an expression of belief. There are few things more powerful than the faithful prayers of a righteous mother.
Teach yourself and teach your families about the gift of the Holy Ghost and the Atonement of Jesus Christ. You will do no greater eternal work than within the walls of your own home.
All are born with the Light of Christ, a guiding influence which permits each person to recognize right from wrong. What we do with that light and how we respond to those promptings to live righteously is part of the test of mortality.

For behold, the Spirit of Christ is given to every man, that he may know good from evil; wherefore, I show unto you the way to judge; for every thing which inviteth to do good, and to persuade to believe in Christ, is sent forth by the power and gift of Christ; wherefore ye may know with a perfect knowledge it is of God.”
Each of us must stay in condition to respond to inspiration and the promptings of the Holy Ghost. The Lord has a way of pouring pure intelligence into our minds to prompt us, to guide us, to teach us, and to warn us. Each son or daughter of God can know the things they need to know instantly. Learn to receive and act on inspiration and revelation.

Of all that I have read and taught and learned, the one most precious and sacred truth that I have to offer is my special witness of Jesus Christ. He lives. I know He lives. I am His witness. And of Him I can testify. He is our Savior, our Redeemer. Of this I am certain. Of this I bear witness in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

I love and am grateful for inspired leaders who give me so many  tools to remember and strive for perfection daily.
