My Random Blogging Therapy
Three years ago right before I moved to Logan I changed my diet pretty drastically when my brother just got diagnosed. I didn't want to see a doctor then because I didn't have insurance just working as a substitute librarian. George tested my blood sugar and it was really high. I started working out consistently. That's a little before when I first moved here. I never tested my blood sugar again. At my last appointment my optometrist advised me to get it checked. Sooo I had it checked today AND I definitely have diabetes and need to change my diet and exercise AGAIN. I ate whole grains almost exclusively then. Slowly but surely I've incorporated white rice AND bread. Those carbs just turn into sugar in the blood stream. Whole grains do too but not as quickly and it isn't as pronounced.
The Atkins diet is based on the whole glycemic index thing so actually for optimal health EVERYONE should eat like a diabetic. Getting my blood sugar number EVERY day sucks. While I don't need to take insulin I need to take this pill twice a day. I won't have to take my blood sugar every day if I can bring all of these levels down through diet and exercise.
I asked my doctor to approve the Yoli system I want and he did!!! I'm going to try to buy it today. I guess they have to mail it to me. So much for getting it for Thanksgiving. It is the perfect thing to jumpstart my diabetic lifestyle. I can't believe I let this happen and that I didn't continue the healthy habits I developed. My pills won't be ready until after 2pm tomorrow.
This means I have to change everything all over again. I know what to eat and what to do because I've done this before. Monitoring my blood sugar sucks. I'm going to have to do this for 3 months at least. I'm going to make myself some spaghetti and I don't have any wheat pasta. I'm glad they make it all over the place now. If nothing else this will help me reach my fitness goals.
