My Random Blogging Therapy
I talked to a bunch of people here at work about HDMI cables. The cheapest at Walmart was 19.99. My friend Eli is the business officer here or he handles all the financial stuff. He showed me one at Amazon.com for 3.99. Annoyed much? YES. All the reviews I've read online recommend NOT to buy the more expensive or "high quality" wires because they are a waste of money.
This is just like when I almost bought a speaker that you can plug your phone into. These "special" players are a complete waste of money when all you need to do is connect the wire to the headphone slot to hook it up to amazing speakers. I found a cable at Best Buy for 5.49 online. Because it's so cheap they don't keep it in stock. The cheapest Best Buy does carry is 20.00. It's the same one Eli showed me for 3.99. He told me there is no difference in picture quality with the cheaper HDMI wire. That is consistent with what I've been reading online. Technology is so awesome!!!
Yet another way the industry tries to rip people off who don't know any better. At lunchtime I'm going to buy/order it at Best Buy. Shipping is free right now so it is cheaper even than Amazon for me to do that. They will ship directly to me as well. It doesn't get much better than that. Of course I won't actually be able to see my TV in action until next week when it comes in but I'M NOT GOING TO SPEND 3X as much on the same cable so I WILL WAIT!!! Next will be a Blue ray player. I told Eli I would probably get a wii too. He told me to get an XBox instead and that his wife loves to play this dance game on the Xbox he said it is better because it identifies you without having to hold the control. He said it has exercise stuff too. That's all I wanted the wii for-dance stuff AND exercise stuff. We shall see. First things first. Amazon has it for around 180. Eli said I can get deals with that too and to keep aware of those.
Netflix is 7.99 a month versus a cable company that can run over a hundred a month. Of course once I get my cable I can watch almost anything from online AND play dvds in my laptop. The cloud model is a huge paradigm shift. If I had to write another thesis I would do something on that! I can just watch stuff from the internet too like I've been doing. That way I wouldn't even have to pay the 7.99 a month. Of course if I do I can watch stuff on my phone with an appropriate app from either Hulu or Netflix. There's something called AppleTV and something else I can't remember too.
