My Random Blogging Therapy
I couldn't sleep last night until after 4am. I do have to prove EVERYTHING. I shouldn't have to do that BUT I still do. I hate this BUT it is the reality I live with. My dean lives in Salt Lake City so I can't even blame it on ignorant Cache Valley isolation. I'm going to HAVE to ask her if she would question my work if my name was Mary or Jane Smith. I HAVE NEVER been accused of plagiarism. So I get this AFTER I have a bachelor degree in English, AFTER I have a master degree in library science, AFTER I have worked as a writer AND editor AND been published???!!!
At first I wasn't certain what she meant by lack of original content. I never thought anyone could be so naive. Now it is clear she is accusing me of plagiarism. This is extremely insulting and offensive.
Instead of assuming the worst and accusing me of plagiarism, she could have done some research and avoided revealing herself as a racist bigot. Someone who can't recognize a grammatically perfect paper is supposed to offer me a grade on my thesis? Ridiculous!!! Grammar is the only thing that isn't subjective.
It is unacceptable that someone in academia would assume my work is plagiarized without asking any of my former instructors to offer their opinion on my writing. If she had looked at ANY of my MANY papers I submitted while in this program she would have multiple examples to support my work. An examination of my initial statement in my application could have clued her in too.
The ONLY explanation that makes any sense is that she assumed someone with an obviously Polynesian name isn't capable of producing work of this caliber.
