I guess I was spoiled by my morning student. That took FOREVER to edit his work. We started class at 6pm and I just spent over an hour editing a 3-page paper. I received a phone call from the other night time student saying she had a personal emergency and had to take her friend to the hospital. She said she'd email me her 3-page paper. I'll see what I receive. I hope she didn't miss class because she didn't finish her work.

I read 12 pages of my friend's thesis. I understand his project more BUT there is so much I can't conceive. It has something to do with how specific data behaves. Noise is just superfluous stuff that accompanies any data movement. A burst is a random spike and cluster of errors that are part of the noise. His project I think tries to predict when these occur. I don't really get what is significant about that characteristic but I'm sure it affects how communication devices are made because this behavior needs to be accomodated somehow. I got tired of reading it. His writing is good but he references models and terms I am extremely unfamiliar with.

I'm very glad he didn't take my offer to edit it for him. I can edit ANY writing for grammar BUT I don't think he has any problem with that. The other stuff I wouldn't be able to judge at all. Every field is interesting BUT I am more concerned with how it fits the big picture, why it is significant and I can't figure that out. I'm sure that is really obvious to someone in his field. It is so NOT to me.
