Ether 14

8 Now the brother of Shared, whose name was Gilead, also received great strength to his army, because of secret combinations.
 9 And it came to pass that his high priest murdered him as he sat upon his throne.
 10 And it came to pass that one of the secret combinations murdered him in a secret pass, and obtained unto himself the kingdom; and his name was Lib; and Lib was a man of great stature, more than any other man among all the people.
25 And thus we see that the Lord did visit them in the fulness of his awrath, and their wickedness and abominations had prepared a way for their everlasting destruction.

I hate this period of the Book of Mormon. The later part of Ether is just filled with strife. I hate it. Maybe that's how our government and all governments are now. I am just so far removed from it that it doesn't affect me. I'm starting to get tired now. Great it's going to be a Diet Dr. Pepper day followed by a visit from my visiting teachers then sleeping before 8pm tonight. It's in the middle of the week. I wish it were the end of the week.

I experienced the joy of coming closer to the Savior and of His coming closer to me most often through simple acts of obedience to the commandments.
My promise to you who pray and serve the Lord cannot be that you will have every blessing you may wish for yourself and your family. But I can promise you that the Savior will draw close to you and bless you and your family with what is best. You will have the comfort of His love and feel the answer of His drawing closer as you reach out your arms in giving service to others. As you bind up the wounds of those in need and offer the cleansing of His Atonement to those who sorrow in sin, the Lord’s power will sustain you. His arms are outstretched with yours to succor and bless the children of our Heavenly Father, including those in your family.

Every covenant servant of His within His kingdom on earth and in the spirit world will receive His guidance by the Spirit as they bless and serve others for Him. And they will feel His love and find joy in being drawn closer to Him.
