Another Busy Day!!!

This morning I read my scriptures on my phone then threw a load of laundry in. No Zumba happened again because I was out of appropriate clean clothes and socks to change into afterwards. I used my coupon for 2 breakfast sandwiches for a dollar at Carl's JR then I bought soda from MickeyD's since it's waaay cheaper for their drinks and it's across the street from Carl's JR and on the way to work.

I will buy healthy food tomorrow!!! I can't wait!!! I decided Greek yogurt REALLY tastes like cheesecake as I polished off the last slice of my frozen cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory. I've had it since Christmas. The chocolate one has over half left still. That stuff lasts FOREVER and there was no discernable quality decrease from December.

Mosiah 28

3 Now they were desirous that salvation should be declared to every creature, for they could not bear that any human soul should perish; yea, even the very thoughts that any soul should endure endless torment did cause them to quake and tremble.

4 And thus did the Spirit of the Lord work upon them, for they were the very vilest of sinners. And the Lord saw fit in his infinite mercy to spare them; nevertheless they suffered much anguish of soul because of their iniquities, suffering much and fearing that they should be cast off forever.

Missionary work is my favorite thing in the world. Testifying is the best because when you testify the spirit confirms to others these things are true BUT it also confirms this in your heart as you testify. That is the BEST!!! You can feel the spirit as others testify of things that are true but when you feel that witness as you testify, it is richer. It's like the difference between cheap ice-cream and the good stuff. Cheap ice-cream still tastes good BUT once you've had the good stuff you seek opportunities to have it instead.

Becoming Goodly Parents - L. Tom Perry

At the top of the list of these values and, therefore, prime targets of the adversary, are the sanctity of marriage and the central importance of families.

The first instruction to Adam for his mortal responsibility is found in Genesis 2:24: “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.”

The joining together of a man and a woman to be legally and lawfully wed not only is preparation for future generations to inherit the earth, but it also brings the greatest joy and satisfaction that can be found in this mortal experience. This is especially true when the powers of the priesthood proclaim a marriage to be for time and for all eternity. Children born to such marriages have a security that is found nowhere else.

These suggestions for creating stronger family cultures work in tandem with the culture of the Church. Our strengthened family cultures will be a protection for our children from “the fiery darts of the adversary”

“… By divine design, fathers are to preside over their families in love and righteousness and are responsible to provide the necessities of life and protection for their families. Mothers are primarily responsible for the nurture of their children. In these sacred responsibilities, fathers and mothers are obligated to help one another as equal partners.”

I believe it is by divine design that the role of motherhood emphasizes the nurturing and teaching of the next generation. But it is wonderful to see husbands and wives who have worked out real partnerships where they blend together their influence and communicate effectively both about their children and to their children.

While I was reluctant to read a talk on being a good parent, the talk focuses more on how a strong marriage results in a strong family. Perry says marriage brings the greatest joy and satisfaction in life expecially when it's a temple marriage. When I first returned from my mission I attended my cousin's temple wedding at the Hawaii temple. That's the first one I saw. I remember thinking why would anyone get married anywhere else if they could have this. I kind of want to run away to the Las Vegas temple to get married but my family would kill me. Tongan weddings are such productions however.

Whatever I do someone in my Tongan family will get offended. That's why the Vegas thing is attractive to me. Instead I'm just going to deal with everyone. I both love and hate my big extended Tongan family that will ALL have an opinion and something to say no matter what I do. I'm DEFINITELY having a Tongan shower however. People like to compete over giving the best gift. Microwaves and vacumn cleaners are common at Tongan wedding showers as are quilts and sets of dishes. They DON'T do lingerie which I am just fine with. I have everything however since I live on my own. If I got married now I'd make my brother buy me a grill like the one he has. I don't really need anything else. I want a nice sound system but I'll buy that before I get married. I'm going to be one of those people who are difficult to buy something for.
