My Random Blogging Therapy
FHE was crowded in the library Bridgerland room. EVERY chair was filled AND people were also with their blankets on the floor. My friend Joseph was running the movie. It starred John Wayne NOT Cary Grant. I just saw an old Irish movie with Sean Connery. I haven't really been an old movie fan except for Audrey Hepburn. I had to see EVERY movie she was in when I went through that phase. I did love Rebel Without a Cause with James Dean. He was sooo fine. I planned to see more at the time but I got involved in other things and didn't bother with it.
This new girl Abby sat by me at first. I asked her if she just moved into our ward. She told me she just had a birthday. She looks a lot older. Later she went and laid down near the front with her blanket she brought with her. Of course that left the chair next to me and I managed to dodge 1 NOT attractive man who asked me if the seat was taken. I told him the girl that was sitting in it went to the front but I wasn't sure if she was coming back. That worked but then all the chairs were filled and Karma can be a B. My fhe member I'm NOT trying to get to know better came late and there was nowhere else for him to sit. All the chairs were filled at that time so I couldn't pull my oh I think someone's going to come back
to this one empty seat sooner or later.
I'm hoping he gets the message because I didn't make ANY small talk whatsoever. I asked David if we could do this when he was my fhe leader and he told me no one else wanted to do that. Perhaps it was just David who didn't want to do that because we had a very good turn out but David was one of the few people who didn't come.
Free popcorn AND a movie EVERY Monday. You'd think we could've at least tried it once. I wasn't exactly thrilled with this movie but they do play a variety. When our fhe played Phantom of the Opera it was well attended BUT I don't think people in my fhe group enjoyed it because most of them left before the movie was done.
My former classmate Jason was working the reference desk when I left. He asked me how I liked the movie. I told him it was very Irish. He told me he loves it. He said it was a different time he enjoys. Abby told me she was just there to be social and would leave in an hour because she owned the movie. Different things appeal to different people. I don't plan on watching it again EVER. Same with the Sean Connery Irish movie I saw at the Mid-Singles activity. NOOOT seeing that again!!!
Old movies I do love Breakfast at Tiffanys and Roman Holiday. I need to buy Roman Holiday. I also loved Rebel Without A Cause. I should buy that too. It's time for me to see it again because I don't remember the storyline. I remember seeing it and enjoying it a lot and buying a James Dean poster soon after that. I was still in high school then.
No lesson BUT a nice fhe regardless. I'm probably a little biased because it was at a public library. I love all libraries, even the Logan public library which is really ugly and needs some serious decorating/cleaning help asap. It does have the best collection however.
When I first went to library school I just wanted my master's degree. My passion was journalism. It still is to some extent BUT I also like money and journalism pays crap to even experienced journalists. I'm glad I love libraries. I love being a librarian. I'm not sure what I'd do if I didn't. When I was a substitute with Salt Lake County I kept thinking of how much I loved being a librarian. I like the environment, I love working with books. I like the feeling that I constantly have to be in the know about what was just released. What I loved the most about journalism is the constant challenge that makes it fun. You need to constantly create a new story and you need to do it quickly but still effectively. I like the immediacy of television and that it engages you in multiple ways. There's audio, video, pictures-so many different elements.
Librarianship is like that in that you are given fresh challenges with the questions patrons ask. As I help an individual find what they need in the most appropriate form, I learn too how to retrieve that particular piece of information. While this helps me with future patrons it also gives me the answer and I can use that myself. I like the constant learning.
