My Random Blogging Therapy
I listened to the priesthood session after the morning session and I ended up falling asleep during the afternoon session sooo I watched it when I woke up. Like stake conference there were a couple of talks repeated.
The most amazing talk to me was Elder Holland. I always love his talks. It was interesting at first I was thinking am I actually not going to like one of his talks? BUT then he spoke with power and authority that made it obvious he is an Apostle of the Lord. Powerful and intense. Sooo great!!! Later Robert D. Hales repeated the SAME story of the Savior and emphasized the same thing-FEED MY LAMBS and LOVEST THOU ME?
Our work is NOT done. We can't relax AND we need to constantly be the disciples of Christ we should. We cannot return to our old life or habits. We MUST move forward and constantly improve. This is pretty significant. 2 Apostles gave the SAME talk and referenced the SAME story.
Elder Cook-The foundation of kindness and civility should be in the home.
Craig E. Christensen-Don't delay acting on promptings. Quoted Joseph Fielding Smith who said the Holy Ghost has the most powerful impact on revealing truth, even more powerful than personal contact with heavenly beings-this is why I believe denying the holy ghost is the sin without forgiveness. You can be forgiven for denying the Savior and even the father BUT the Holy Ghost CANNOT be denied. This is why I was grateful Bro. Salmond found that quote that said the Holy Ghost worked in a limited capacity when the Savior was on the earth. While I don't understand all the physics, to me it would be essential to have the Holy Ghost testify to the hearts of people of the divinity of the Savior EVEN when on the earth. What I don't know however is the ability of the Savior's own spirit to touch people's hearts in person. When I was at the Y and I first went to SLC, waited in line, then watched General Conference in person-When the prophet entered the tabernacle I could feel his spirit and it was huge. I went dancing the night before with my friends and I hadn't slept. I don't remember any of the talks. What I do remember is how I felt.
Robert Gray Is your soul worth a nickel? Quoted Neal A. Maxwell-"Sophisticated neutrals" all that is needed to thwart the work.
Eyring-Get rid of spiritual pavillions. Some delays last a lifetime. Melt hearts, extend love, forgiveness
Gonzalez-Essential things cannot be seen but are felt. Remember spiritual insight and experiences-recall these to strengthen our resolve. CONVERSION
President Monson-NEVER delay following the spirit, Find the joy in life, list blessings, He told us repeatedly to focus on the positive. I like this!
Richard G. Scott-My guilt-trip speech. What blessings have I failed to receive since I don't do family history? Temple work is wonderful but for your own ancestors is even better-richer. I haven't experienced this yet. Begin now-promises it will be worth it.
Russell T. Osguthorpe-Sunday School General Presidency-CONVERSION-line upon line, precept on precept-spiritual change is gradual but must be happening constantly. Conversion is a life-long quest to become more like the Savior.
Daniel L. Johnson-Discipleship
Don L. Clark-One of the best talks I've ever heard about maximizing our worship as we take the sacrament. As we give this the preeminence it should have it will ALWAYS be a great sacrament meeting.
Elder Bednar-COVERSION AGAIN!!!
The biggest conference theme to me seemed to be actually living the gospel. It's not enough just to have a testimony-we need to live it. Elder Holland and Elder Hales emphasized the Savior's admonition to love and serve others to show we love Him. Deepening our discipleship is another way to explain conversion.
I love conference!!! I'm grateful for so many opportunities I enjoy. I am very blessed.
