Institute

Bro. Salmond had a meeting to attend to so his son who is a seminary teacher taught instead. He had some insight he shared from apocryphal texts that were very interesting and related to stuff in the temple. I find that stuff so interesting BUT I know it doesn't really matter. There is so much for me to learn that has already been revealed. There is much for me to work on.

He talked about being a helpmeet and exactly what that means and how two people working together can accomplish something much greater than any person working alone. This is the principle of interdependence taught so well by Stephen R. Covey in his book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. This Bro. Salmond said oxen can pull 6000 lbs alone. Two oxen yoked together can pull over 30,000 lbs. I see the benefits of interdependence all over the place. It is why we need to get married. I like that he just reinforced this principle Covey taught me first. It can be applied to anything. It is important to learn independence which is a better state than dependence. Independence however is not the greatest state. Interdependence is the optimal state. World differences can apply this principal too. It's one of the reasons why I studied globalization in library school and it is the theme of my online portfolio.

Differences actually enhance our ability to confront challenges. Gender differences exist. Gender is eternal. We talked about this a little. These differences can help us identify better solutions. Despite this I think it is imperative to share things.

Wow I just got some fhe ideas-we can do both chocolate AND cheese-distribute invitations to our fondue party, assign people who don't attend to do the lesson, prayers, maybe a musical number and bring specific things for the fondue party. I don't mind calling people the week before and asking each of our group members personally if they're going to come to "get an accurate count". Maybe the lesson shouldn't be assigned. It is imperative that people feel the spirit. That is more important than anything else. I think it's too late to call Mindie. I'm going to look online to see if I can find her email address.

If we treat fhe like it is incredible-prepare for it that way, people will respond in turn. They can't help but do so. We should invite Beckie Fridal too. The fhe general leader visits all the families to help them and to get to know groups and see them in action.
