Never assume

It is really freaky to me that I found out David likes things I really enjoy. I had given up on even finding friends who like this stuff a long time ago. My first friend David always said he enjoyed that stuff BUT I know if it wasn't for me he would never go on his own. ANY guy I dated has NEVER liked all this stuff. I wonder if he likes art. Renoir is my favorite but I like a lot of artists including contemporary stuff. I didn't like David's CDs in his car and he had so many pictures of outdoorsy stuff on his Facebook page. It never occurred to me that he might like any of this. I NEVER thought to ask if he enjoyed the ballet or musicals. He likes opera too. I like some opera but I don't like it all.

I ushered at the Capitol theater in Salt Lake City because I wanted to see a lot of things but I didn't want to pay for it. Capitol theater was fun because it included ushering at Abravenel Hall and the Rose Wagner Theater. This meant I could see the symphony when I wanted AND smaller plays and even political stuff. I saw Jon Huntsman when he was running for governor and then I also saw Sean Hannity at Abravenel Hall. I ushered at the Pioneer Theater at the U for a little bit. I was able to see a lot of things I wanted to see. The quality at the Capitol theater however was better than Pioneer even though Pioneer hosted traveling companies. I was the youngest usher there then. I suspect I would still be if I returned. Everyone I met was nice but they were all OLD. Even the patrons were OLD.

I asked Krista if she liked ballet. She does!!! We are going to see Dracula on the 26th or 27th. I told her tickets were $21. Like I'm going to sit anywhere else if their most expensive seats are just $21. I hope she really does like it ALTHOUGH I'll go by myself if I want to see something. Krista is very sweet. She texted me yesterday but I didn't get it until I was already at fhe. She was worried about me and would've come to fhe just to support me. I told her I would keep attending although it wasn't going to be something easy for me. While just going there took A LOT. Fhe was NOT a problem at all. Bishop doesn't get some things. He asked Krista to attend the basic skills class too. She is getting her MBA. She is attending graduate school in a foreign country studying in a language that isn't her native tongue. She drives and maintains her car in a foreign country despite language limitations. She rents, cooks, buys groceries-ALL not easy things for people NOT in a foreign country. She isn't stupid, she just can't speak English as well as all the people raised speaking English. I'm certain she could teach many things about "basic skills"!!! There are several people in our ward who still live at home. If Krista didn't have the language barriers she has she could school them on getting out of their comfort zone and growing up.

David said Michael Ballam is playing Tevia in Fiddler on the Roof. He is amazing!!! I will see this. Othello is also scheduled. I looove Shakespeare!!! I took a Shakespeare class for fun once at UH. This was AFTER I had graduated with my BA in English. I hope these performances are good. I'm excited but I don't want to be disappointed, although for $21 it'll probably still be worth it.

I like the Hale Theater in West Valley. I love their stage. Every seat is a good seat. Performers however run the gamut. I took Colton there for his birthday. Tickets there were cheap so I never ushered there. I hope Eccles is good. Hale Theater tickets were $25. The best seats at Eccles are $21 AND there's a student discount I can take advantage of at least for a month or so. I saw Aida at Hale. I took my friend Paul there after we had a huge misunderstanding. I wanted to make things good. That did the trick. He had never been to a musical before. The performers were not that great but Paul couldn't stop thanking me so I knew I did the right thing. My cousin Louisa took me to see Pride and Prejudice there too. Someone gave her tickets and she knew I'd appreciate it. Jane Austen is my favorite author.

I wanted to see the River when it was playing there years ago. I saw the River at the Manoa Valley Playhouse in Hawaii. The stage reminds me of Hale's stage although Hale is nicer. It was sooo good in Hawaii and the performers were excellent.

The big Hawaiian guy on Hawaii-Five-O Kamekona went to my high school. He is one of my facebook friends. He is having a Bollywood party Friday in Honolulu. He keeps inviting me to these fun things and I think I am here in Logan!!! I hope Eccles can fill some of this void!!!

Spiritually Logan is good for me. I love my institute class and I'm going to work in the temple. I'm going to start some family history tomorrow too. After conference I need to try at least. I'm going to try to help David and Mindie make our fhe group better. I'm REALLY glad I listened to my Heavenly Father AND did what I already know I should anyway. KEEP attending my church activities AND be Christlike. Matt was easy because we are both outgoing. Mindie isn't very social and although David seems social, from what he's told me he's really not. I hope I can help. I think part of selling people on how fun fhe is will include selling David and Mindie on that idea too. David seems to have the idea that he can only do so much and the rest is up to the group members. I think that's true up to a point. I've thrown a lot of events. If I just view fhe as mini-events it should be fine. We're having a fondue party next. That can be very fun. I'm going to start racking my brain for ideas. We are going to get like my group before. People who aren't in our group are going to attend just because they want to do that.
