I decided to actually look at the ingredients on the candy bars I found with low carbs. The one with just 12 is made with entirely organic ingredients right up to filtered water. This is how Death to Diabetes recommends we eat. He also wants us to limit our consumption of meat, dairy and fats including cheese and butter. I just watched a really good explanation on a Dr. Oz clip about alkaline vs. acidic-forming foods. Ironically lemons and limes are alkaline when we eat them. That makes so much sense to me. One day I'd love to consume mostly organic stuff. It's just not realistic for me to do that now.
I'm glad I saw that clip. It explained it very well. It gives the explanation for why we are counseled to eat meat sparingly in the word of wisdom. After I did Atkins I wondered about that. Veggies are really key. I'm going to go to the temple tonight. It's our ward temple night and while I plan to join the ward I'm also going early so I can do initiatories too since it feels like forever since I worked there and I could use a refresher before I return Saturday.
I need to call my doctor and see if he can increase my test strip prescription amount. How else can I gauge how my body reacts to certain foods. It's probably too late now but I'm going to try anyway.
