My Random Blogging Therapy
I worked out earlier AND took my shower earlier BUT NOT early enough for me to try walking to work this morning. I just thought of how I need to go to Ogden on Thursday. I definitely NEED to walk considering my gas has to last me until the 21st which is almost 2 weeks and I have less than half a tank now. I'm excited for our temple devotional Sunday. Since I'm singing in the choir I'll be gone from my meetings Sunday. There are 2 meetings, at 1 and 4pm. I'm so excited to see the 4th floor and to participate in this even in a small way.
I wonder if they always have them after conference. Conference was awesome like it always is. President Monson is getting older and his talks were short and focused on loving one another. There were many good speakers. President Uctdorf is always relevant, simple and so on point. I loved Dallin Oaks' talk during the priesthood session. He is pretty old too but just as vibrant to me as he's always been. Several people commented that President Packer spoke a la Bruce R. McConkie giving his farewell speech but then Heather Pretlow reminded us he's done that a lot. Packer and Hales to me look like they just aged overnight. I love our apostles and general authorities. I appreciate the work they do not just everyday in their many assignments but also in preparing to speak to us. It must be difficult trying to figure out how to address the world every 6 months but they do such a great job.
The church prepares us so much for our professional lives. When you've had to speak in front of a congregation since you were young it's not a big deal to give a speech or presentation in any context. All the talking a missionary does to strangers prepares you for all areas of your professional life too. Presentations are a piece of cake BECAUSE of church. This is done in school too but it's easy in school again because of church.
