“We are surrounded by those in need of our attention, our encouragement, our support, our comfort, our kindness—be they familymembers, friends, acquaintances, or strangers. We are the Lord’s hands here upon the earth, with the mandate to serve and to lift His children. He is dependent upon each of us. …

Focusing on serving our brothers and sisters can guide us to make divine decisions in our daily lives and prepares us to value and love what the Lord loves. In so doing, we witness by our very lives that we are His disciples. When we are engaged in His work, we feel His Spirit with us. We grow in testimony, faith, trust, and love.

I wanted to watch this because I couldn't tell what he looked like when he spoke at our temple devotional.

I enjoyed his talk in the temple very much. He talked about how the same message was repeated to Joseph Smith 4 times. I always thought it was 3. Some Orthodox Jewish? church he visited had an empty chair hanging from the ceiling. It waits for Elijah's return. He has returned. Why is this so significant? When I was a family history consultant in the Tongan Young Adult ward briefly I never understood the Elijah significance. I still don't really. I remember giving a talk about how important family history was or why would the same message be repeated? 3x is what I used. Although I recognized and still recognized its importance, I don't really. I get it on an intellectual level but I don't feel it inside.

My mom is sooo into family history it turns me off. I've made half-hearted efforts but I've never really embraced it. It is one of the church's 3 missions. Elder Rasband also expounded on this. He said we have another goal of the church which is to care for the poor and needy.

Supposedly the church welfare system stopped and members are advised to get welfare or help from the state first instead of the church. The reasoning is because poor countries send money when the wealthier countries do not. I need to research that.
